Chelsea v West Ham United Premier League Betting Tips 24/04/2022

Chelsea v West Ham

Chelsea and West Ham United meet in this London Derby on Sunday as both teams hope to make a move for a top-four finish. The Blues remain in third place with a comfortable cushion, but another defeat could dent their chances of finishing in the Champions League places. West Ham’s form has been indifferent, although a positive result could see them launch back into top-four contention. This match takes place at 2 p.m at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and it will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Team News/Form

Chelsea’s lost their second Premier League match in three after a heavy 4-2 home loss against Arsenal this Wednesday. Although, the Blues previously beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup and Real Madrid in the Champions League. West Ham struggled to build on their 3-0 win at Lyon in the Europa League and they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Burnley last time out. After dropping points, the Hammers are now five points off the Premier League top four.

Looking at the team news, Andreas Christensen may return for Chelsea, but Mateo Kovacic (ankle), Antonio Rudiger (groin), Ben Chilwell (knee) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (calf) are out. West Ham trio Kurt Zouma (ankle), Issa Diop (ankle) and Angelo Ogbonna (knee) are ruled out.

Matchwinner Odds

Despite dropping points last time out, Chelsea remain the clear favourites against West Ham. The Hammers have lost four of their last five Premier League away matches and picked up one point on the road during this run. As a result, a Hammers away win appears unlikely, with Coral offering 6/1 odds. The odds for a draw are more favourable, considering Chelsea have drawn five of their last ten at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League. For a stalemate, Unibet has the best odds at 17/5. However, our matchwinner tip this week is to back a Chelsea home win. The Blues have won 15 of their last 19 in all competitions and they have beaten West Ham in 11 of the last 16 meetings at Stamford Bridge. At 11/20, Bet365 will provide the best returns for a Chelsea home win.

BTTS Yes

Even though Chelsea may be clear favourites to take all three points in this London derby, West Ham are likely to cause some problems at the Bridge. As both teams carry an attacking threat, we are backing BTTS Yes as an additional wager this Sunday. Firstly, the Blues have seen BTTS in three of their last four home matches, while the Hammers have scored and conceded in four of their last five Premier League matches. At evens, William Hill has the best odds for a BTTS Yes return between Chelsea and West Ham.

Anytime Goalscorer

As the goals are likely to flow at Stamford Bridge, there is more value to be found in the anytime goalscorer market. From West Ham’s ranks, Jarrod Bowen is the standout option. In his last five matches, Bowen has netted three goals, taking his tally to 15 for the season. Bowen was also on the scoresheet in the return fixture in December and Bet365 has the best odds for the English forward to score again at 5/1. However, on current form, there is no ignoring Chelsea star Mason Mount as an anytime goalscorer – our pick this weekend. Mount has scored four goals in his last four matches. Mount was also amongst the goals at the London Stadium earlier in the season and Betfair will return the best odds for the midfielder to score again at 21/10.

As both Chelsea and West Ham still need points to match their European qualification ambitions, an extra bite is expected for this London derby. There should be plenty of passion and excitement on display, with drop points potentially proving costly.
